PLATFORM DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION

CADD serves as the single portal for recording and accessing doctoral-level research conducted in Cyprus.

The Cyprus Archive of Doctoral Dissertations (CADD) has been developed using the Free and Open Source Software platform DSpace. DSpace is a free, open-source software designed for the creation and management of digital repositories, including academic, research, and thematic repositories. It focuses on the long-term preservation, storage, and accessibility of digital content such as publications, datasets, dissertations, and other digital records.

A key factor in selecting this platform was its ability to comply with reliable standards of compatibility and interoperability with European and international infrastructures, such as OpenAIRE and EOSC.

The CADD platform functions both as a repository and as an aggregator of records (metadata) from all existing Institutional Repositories, provided that data presentation is standardized, persistent identifiers (handle or DOI) are in place, and content usage provisions are aligned with Creative Commons licensing options.

To ensure interoperability, institutions must adopt and formally notify the CADD management team of the implementation of the OAI-PMH protocol within their institutional infrastructure.

In cases where institutions do not maintain their own Institutional Repository, Doctoral Dissertations may be submitted directly to CADD by the designated institutional contact person, following consultation with the authors/researchers, and with the mandatory inclusion of the institution of origin for each dissertation
